On September 19, 2015, the Rocky Cross Country team traveled to Bozeman to compete in the Montana State University Open. This meet was a highly competitive Division one meet. The men started the morning off with 8k. Sophmore Eddy Loughran finished with 27:08 min. Behind Loughran followed Isaac Petsch (Fr.) and Riley Ruppenenthal (Jr.). Gino Giovagnoli (Fr.) ran his first 8k with 29:35, and Joshua Waldram (So.) finished right behind Giovagnoli with a time of 29:36. Senior Colton Woods broke thirty minutes with 29:58. Finally, Gillean Szweda Mittelstadt (Fr.) finished with a time of 30:14. Overall the men placed 8th out of ten teams with Montana Western and MSU Northern behind them.
There were only two women representing Rocky at this meet. “Keisha Stensby (Jr.) and Laramie Coats (Fr.) ran well today against big time competition,” remarks Coach McLean. “We have more girls that we want to get out competing. There should be more girls running at that the Great Falls meet. Overall for our girls team, we need their fitness to improve and add strategy to the racing.”
